In heaven, will we have free will?
Important to keep in mind is that God made us with free will to make decisions in our lives. Sin changed the human mind from perfection to imperfection. All that was formerly in perfect tune with the Creator began to degenerate once mankind sinned. That degeneration continues today.
Man can no longer exercise free will without his decisions being tainted by the sin-infection that fell upon the human race when Adam disobeyed in Eden. Man’s upside-down thinking (reprobate thinking) is the reason for war, and for all the terrible things we see, hear, and experience today.
When Jesus returns, things will be better during the Millennium (Christ’s 1000-year reign on earth). But, man’s bloodline will still be contaminated by the fall in Eden. Man will still exercise his God-given free moral agency from a skewered perspective. However, there is a glorious time coming when the sin-infection will be completely erased from mankind forever. It will be the time that follows the Millennium, and the last of God’s judgments on sin, the Great White Throne Judgment.
John, the great apostle, was given the following prophecy by the Lord Jesus, himself. “And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful” (Rev. 21:5).
Our free volition will be restored to the ability to make decisions Adam had before the fall --when sin began affecting his and Eve’s deliberations. We will have free will, but we will realize that to truly be free, our will must be in perfect alignment with the will of Almighty God.
