Are names erased from the Book of Life?
I believe in the literal translation of God's Holy Word. I believe that God says what He means, and means what He says.
In Revelation 3:5, Jesus was writing a letter to the Church of Sardis. In that letter, He said: "He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I WILL NOT BLOT OUT HIS NAME OUT OF THE BOOK OF LIFE," so yes, you can have you name blotted out, and you can lose your salvation.
Romans 8:38-39 tells us: "For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Which is true, but the one thing that was not mentioned is: FREE WILL. You can choose to reject Jesus Christ, even after being saved (not a good idea). The author of Hebrews 6:4-6 tells us: "For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame." So, once you do that, you've "crossed the line," so to speak.
Now, I don't want to scare you with this, so I'll leave you with a more positive Scripture passage:
"And I heard a great voice out of Heaven saying, Behold the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell within them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And He that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me , Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, It is done" (Rev. 21:3-6).
