I am unmarried and 30, and most of my friends are married. What can I do?
It is natural to want to be married and possibly have children. But, if you know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, it is important that you get control over your desires and ask Him to help you find contentment within yourself. Contentment is so freeing when it allows you to let go of worry about things over which you have little control.
It is okay to want marriage and it is good to pray that God will bring you the right person in His timing. Even better is to pray for God's will to be done in your life even if it means that you are alone. If God has marriage in His plans for you, and you are submitted to His will, then it will be wonderful. But, if He has called you to be alone, and you force the issue of marriage outside of His will, then you may face a very difficult life.
Paul says it this way in 1 Corinthians 7:7, "I wish everyone could get along without marrying, just as I do. But we are not all the same. God gives some the gift of a husband or wife, and others he gives the gift of being able to stay happily unmarried" (TLB). Whether you marry or remain single, you can become a truly fulfilled individual by following the Lord's plan and purpose for your life.
